Famous actor Kurt Russell has signed on for an upcoming independent movie about the growing intersection of cryptocurrency and heists, according to CoinDesk.

Crypto will feature Russell and Alexis Bledel, Jeremie Harris, and Luke Hemsworth.

The Hollywood Reporter said the plot will focus on an anti-money laundering agent within the government who returns to his New York hometown to investigate a case of Fraud.

The lead will be played by Beau Knapp and Russell will play his father.

The producers of the fil said it would be a thriller similar to The Firm and The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, but having a new twist unseen in Hollywood yet that focused on the world of cryptocurrency.

The film was written by Carlyle Eubank and David Frigerio.

“Cryptocurrency has captured the attention and imagination of consumers and entrepreneurs all over the world but has never been explored in film in such a nuanced and exciting way,” Jordan Yale Levine, one of the producers for Crypto, said.

The film is currently shooting in New York but the release date has not yet been determined.

The Coen brothers, Oscar-winning producers and directors in The Big Lebowski, Fargo, and No Country for Old Men, were also working on a project about the Silk Road, the famous online black market which used Bitcoin as its main form of payment.

But Crypto is one of the first movies from the U.S. that will focus on a cryptocurrency theme.

Vietnam has released a movie about cryptocurrency that involved an international manhunt after the suspect carried out a massive cyber theft in Bitcoin Heist.
