Bitfinex, one of the world’s largest Bitcoin exchanges by daily trading volume, has confirmed it has a bank account with Dutch financial group ING in the Netherlands, Reuters reported.

ING spokesperson Harold Reusken confirmed in an email to Reuters the bank account with ING is in the Netherlands after Bitfinex split with Wells Fargo last April.

The Dutch news outlet Follow the Money reported the Bitfinex, ING connection Feb. 14, CoinTelegraph reported. ING, the Dutch news outlet reported, cannot disclose the value of Bitfinex’s account because of privacy laws.

Reusken said ING is intensively testing Blockchain technology and highly interested in cooperating with “companies that are in the value chain of cryptocurrencies,” CoinTelegraph reported.

However, he expressed skepticism about cryptocurrencies, the report continued, noting ING customers cannot buy or sell digital currency via the bank.

“With regards to companies that are active in the crypto market, we are very conservative,” Reusken said.
