The head of South Korea’s economic policy at the Office of Government Policy Coordination, who has been developing policy measures against cryptocurrency speculation, was found dead at his Seoul home on Monday, The Wall Street Journal reported.

Jung Ki-joon, 52, was reported to have died of a heart attack in his sleep on Sunday, the report said.

Jung Ki-joon’s role involved integrating opinions of different ministries and offices and merging the opinions at South Korea’s weekly government meetings of vice ministers to regulate cryptocurrency operations, the report said.

The meetings were headed by Hong Nam-ki, minister of the Office for Government Policy Coordination, CoinTelegraph reported.

His colleagues said Jung had been under extreme pressure over the last year because of job-related stress being in charge of regulations development against cryptocurrency speculation.

The police have launched an investigation, the report said, although the death was described as from natural causes, the report said.
