Bjork Will Give Away Cryptocurrency With New Album

Fast Company announced on Friday that Bjork fans will soon be able to purchase her new album using cryptocurrencies or old-fashioned purchasing options through her website or record label, but it will also come with a gift.
The fans that purchase the album will be awarded 100 AudioCoins, a music-centric ICO that is built on the back on bitcoin, which currently are valued at only 26 cents, but if bitcoin continues it’s intense rise in value, it could be worth $124 within a year.
Kevin Bacon, CEO of British blockchain startup Blockpool, tells Music Ally that his company will be helping Bjork’s label with the crypto-processing. “This isn’t about jumping on a bandwagon or trying to get rich quick.”
“It’s about doing things where you use blockchain and the crypto benefits in ways that people haven’t thought of yet.”
Other celebrities have been joining the singer in endorsing ICOs, including Jamie Foxx and Paris Hilton, and can be a sign of a possible investment.
The New York Times recently profiled Centra, a digital token that was endorsed by Floyd Mayweather, but was also using a non-existent older businessman as their fake-CEO.
The SEC has also noticed the celebrity influx and issued a warning that individuals should think twice about ICO endorsements since if anything is found out to be illegal, they could be legally responsible.
